Do you know what is Code Red worm? This worm had been released on July 13,2001 discovered and researched by eEye Digital Security employees Marc Maiffret and Ryan Permeh.A worm can be viewed as a new generation of Internet worm that took the Internet and security community by surprise.The first version of Code Red spread slowly, taking over only thousands server before it was discovered.This worm chose targets on the same or different subnets as the infected machines according to a fixed probability distribution, favoring targets on its own subnet more often than not. Additionally,this worm attacks thousands of computers already. It used the pattern of repeating 'X' characters instead of 'N' characters to overflow the buffer. I think this worm is the same origin of "ILOVEYOU” worm. This worm spreads by selecting 100 IP addresses, Scanning the computers associated with them for the hole ,and spreading to the vulnerable machines .This worm then defaces any website hosted by the server with the text :

Welcome to http://www.worm.com! 
Hacked by Chinese!

Believing that Worm.com acted as a collection point for information sent from compromised servers.

In this case, I can say that this worm is so dangerous especially when your computer will be infected to it because there are so many types of text that will appear or flood in to the computer that will make you hustle at the same time. Also this worm can affects to your IP addresses. Some users will get tired of finding solutions to stop or to prevent the “code red virus”.

Once your computer will be infected some of your files will be corrupted which leads you into cramming. As it was noted this said virus was first name after a cola drink from “Pepsi”. The average of your computer user should not need to have any great concerns since Code Red does not affect the 95, 98, or ME versions of Windows. System administrators and webmasters should on the other hand have their eyes open for possible security risks.

Between the 1st and 20th of each month Code Red proliferates rapidly and spreads itself to other computers. Code Red uses the days from and including the 20th to 27th of each month to attack the White House's official website.

The code red virus has now become widespread and infected in a short period of time for around 250 thousand web servers. The said virus has a capacity to multiply or to corrupt all your important files inside your computer and if it is not protected with an antivirus it will be surely damaged.

The hackers will surely recognized the infected computers that are vulnerable and gain control over them. Some effects on a certain types of a Cisco-router that becomes ineffective from its own movement when the worm pass through until it has been reset.Code Red is the first worm known not to multiply by copying itself to some files or infecting them but only residing in the computer’s memory and multiplying by a stream of data between computers.
